AGRICOLA MARONI

AGRICOLA MARONI

Situated in Ranzanico (BG), on the banks of Lake Endine in Valcavallina, our farm has a decade-long experience in breeding approximately 500 specimens of the Bergamasca giant sheep. We use an expansive area of 140 hectares, which allows us to graze the sheep in the Bergamo Orobie mountains during the summer months, between 1650 and 2150 meters in altitude, while in winter we move to the flat areas of Brescia and Bergamo, practicing transhumance in uncultivated lands, fallow lands, and vineyards. We adopt a full-cycle breeding approach, in which each animal we raise is born and grows within our farm, constantly committing ourselves to genetic improvement. Our sheep graze outdoors all year round, feeding on fresh grass, and we are proud members of the Italian Grass Fed Association (A.I.A.G.). Since the beginning of 2017, we have inaugurated a new laboratory for the transformation of farm products, which includes fresh meats and sheep sausages, as well as preserves and jams obtained from our vegetable garden and orchard. Our sheep sausages, prepared in collaboration with Vanni Forchini, a sausage maker from Vallecamonica with four decades of experience, represent our flagship product. In addition, we cooperate with public entities to keep uncultivated lands clean and prevent the proliferation of woods that could favor fires. Taking into consideration the environmental impact, we have installed solar panels and an air-to-water heat pump to meet our energy needs at our facility.
